What We Do

Mission

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center's mission is to provide opportunities for the individuals and families in the North Beach, Chinatown, and Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhoods to enrich their quality of life.  We focus on meeting the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse low- and moderate-income residents with services that:

  • promote stability for families
  • build skills, trust, and self-worth that allow children, youth, and adults to succeed and reach for their dreams
  • support seniors in remaining vital and independent

Tel-Hi is a safe and stable “center of the neighborhood”—a place that people of many ages, backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities think of as “home away from home.”  We serve 600 people a day through our preschool, three after school enrichment programs, and senior program.

The benefits of our programs, along with the center’s role as a gathering place for networking and problem solving, foster a broad community strength. Strangers of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities become neighbors here, committed to helping one another and working toward common solutions.

Girls In The Garden Compressed
